MEMORANDUM TO: City of Lamar Employees FROM: City Safety Committee DATE: May 17, 2023 RE: Purpose & Operation of the Safety Committee ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CIRSA, the agency through which the City obtains its insurance, requires that a Safety Committee be formed in order to help prevent losses. The Safety Committee for the City has been established to help improve working safety and conditions in Lamar's day-to-day operations. Committee members are very interested in insuring that all of our jobs are made as safe and danger-free as possible. Membership on the Committee will be rotated on a regular basis, insuring that there are always new faces and new ideas for improving safety. The Committee will act as a reviewing body of all accidents and on-the-job injuries. By understanding the causes for such accidents, the Committee will be able to form solutions and hopefully reduce and/or eliminate future problems. The Committee is open to any employee of the City who wishes to make suggestions or comments about any aspect of safety throughout the entire City. The Safety Committee can't think of or deal with everything, particularly if we don't know about unsafe working conditions. All employees are encouraged to observe and correct unsafe working practices, either on the job or by coming to the Safety Committee. All suggestions can be made anonymously to the Department liaison.
