28 CARRYOVER OF UNUSED VACATION Employees will be allowed to carry-over accrued but unused vacation time as of December 31st of each year only for the purpose of using the unused time during the following three months of the following year (January to March) before vacation carry-over time is forfeited on March 31st of each year. No banking of carry-over hours will be allowed. Carry-over of any unused vacation does not accumulate from year to year and is not paid out at termination of employment. VACATION PAY AT TERMINATION Upon termination, eligible employees will be paid for any Vacation Leave earned but not used during the current year, excluding any carry-over of unused vacation time. Carry-over of any unused Vacation Leave will not be paid out upon termination. Any employees that prior to December 31, 2018, have obtained and hold banked vacation time are permitted to be paid out for that remaining banked time on the date of termination of employment. Vacation leave may not be used to extend the date of termination beyond the last date actually worked. VACATION LEAVE ELIGIBILITY All Regular Full-time Employees are not eligible for the Vacation Leave benefit until the employee completes the Introductory Period, however, Vacation Leave will begin to accrue during the Introductory Period. Regular Part-time Employees (30 or less hours per week) shall receive a Vacation Leave benefit of fifty percent (50%) of the Regular Full-time Employee benefit. New Employees still serving the Introductory Period will be eligible to use the accrued leave time after completion of 90 days of employment. VACATION LEAVE USE AND SCHEDULING Any employee desiring to use Vacation Leave must be scheduled and approved by the employee's supervisor before being taken. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to determine if the employee's requested Vacation Leave can be accommodated. While supervisors are expected to give consideration of the employee's need for time off, business and operational needs will be a key consideration in determining whether or not a specific leave request is approved.
