Just as these sad thoughts were racing through Bear's head, just as the boat had tipped, the garbage truck hit what could only appear to be a pothole in the road, sending Bear and some other bags of trash flying out of the truck. The driver, seeing this, stopped the truck and picked up the fallen trash bags. Bear lie near a fire hydrant, hidden by the object, missed by the truck driver's sweep for the fallen trash. Bear couldn't believe his luck, maybe he would live to survive another day. It had been years. The area around where Bear lay had become overground with plants in the absence of regular maintenance. Bear had a lovely ant colony lying next to him, the ants it seemed, didn’t want to eat Bear, though Bear would’ve preferred if they did.
